Our passionate belief is that everyone should have the chance to experience live classical music up close. Therefore, a central part of our program takes the music and performers from our concerts out of the concert hall and into local schools.

Since the Fall of 2018, we have performed for thousands of local children in 16 different schools, introducing them to duos, trios, quartets and sextets by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Dvorak and many more.

Presentations from our 2020-21 Season will be made available to schools in the following ways:

  • Live-Stream presentations, delivered remotely into classrooms and/or homes
  • In-person, appropriately socially-distanced, following the latest school reopening protocols and state recommendations

In addition, Ashuelot Concerts will also be providing a series of curriculum videos exploring aspects of music. Our musicians will explore the building blocks of music, using examples of real-life concert performances to illustrate each topic. Videos will be published with a text transcript so teachers can use the material in any way that proves helpful.

The first series of videos will be aimed at Elementary School Children and explore the following:

  • Fast & Slow
  • Loud & Soft
  • High & Low
  • Staccato & Legato
  • Phrases
  • Major & Minor Keys
  • Form & Structure
  • Style & Period

School-age children are also welcome to attend all of our concerts for FREE.

School Performances

Each school presentation lasts for 45 minutes and includes 3-4 extracts from our concert program.

The music is introduced with some background history and the children are guided in how to actively listen as the performance takes place.

The musicians also share stories of their own background, how they got started and what life is like as a touring concert-artist.

At the end of the presentation there is a chance to ask questions.

Our Schools Program is designed to share our passion for this amazing music with the students. We want to give children the chance to hear world-class performers up close and ask them questions so that the musicians can share their personal stories of achievement.

Ashuelot Concerts wants to inspire our children to take up and persist with an instrument because there is no better way to learn how to learn than through music. We know from recent research that a musical education enhances a child’s prospects exponentially.

We also want to generate more interest in Classical Music and show them that anything is possible with the right determination, drive and commitment, even something as crazy as making your living from classical music! Our message to the children is that it is ok to find things difficult as long as you strive to overcome those difficulties.
